After getting hit with a “hypno-glow” while stranded in the Skrull Galaxy, Ben “The Thing” Grimm finds himself unable to clobber. The look on his face accompanying this realization can only be described in one way:
Sheer existential terror.
For what is a Thing if that Thing cannot clobber? Can there be a time for him if it is never, in fact, Clobberin’ Time?
This, ladies and gentlemen, is the face of a man who has stared into the abyss of his own soul.

I came to this site from a link to your excellent article about Red Hood and the Outlaws and the Starfire foolishness. I read through the archive and loved it all. I look so forward to new posts. And then, there comes a day when you read the best Thing vs. Existentsial Despair article that you will ever read in your life. And today is that day.
Thank you.
Thanks! I’m glad you stuck around for the rest of the blog.
Hi.
I love this post and having read your other posts, you’re humour is right up my alley! I also came via your horrible sexist rants about Starfire and Red Hood and the Outlaws. JOKE! I thought your comments on the hullabaloo were some of the most insightful and heartfelt words written about it all. I stuck around after I noticed your laudable celebration of the awesomeness of Dr Doom and the Thing. You’re a great and funny writer – my one request would be more Fantastic Four and Doom, they’re the world’s greatest super-team and villain!
Thanks for sticking around and I’m glad you’ve been enjoying my blog!
You’re right. I should have more Fantastic Four and Doom. So, as per your suggestion, I’ve added The Many Emotions of Doctor Doom: http://mssnarky.wordpress.com/2011/11/01/the-many-moods-of-doctor-doom/
